Hi,
Just joined in this group. Currently cruising in '96 lynx 1.6 sedan
after a daring swap from '97 Wira 1.3 sedan. Never regret. However,
havin' knocking sound from rear suspension through potholes. Changed rear
suspension, still got the sound. Feedbacks anyone ??

Hi,
I own a lynx 1.8 1996. I had my shock absorbers changed last year. Just a
month ago, the ride became really hard, and I took it to a tyre shop. They
had the car jacked up, and I could see broken rubber parts of the front
suspension system. I had the whole set changed, incl. another part with
two ball-joints. One of the ball joint already stuck, the other still
movable. I think all this wear and tear contribute to the noise while
driving over pot-holes. The rear also comes with a part that has a double
ball-joint (I dont know the name of this parts) and I suspect this is your
problem; the ball joint is stuck!
I was told that these FORD parts lasted quite long, never changed before
(I bought the car new in 1996) compared to Proton models.
Anyway, I had my tyres changed to Michelin Pilot Preceda (RM260 per piece)
cause they really offer a quiet ride, and V-rated too, although I never
took my car to speeds >140km/h. Now the ride is really comfortable and
handling superb. It's money worth spending compared to buying a new car.
My next project on this car is to improve sound-proofing. Any suggestions.

Hi mech90,
Now there are three of us, good! As for the air-cond, my mechanic said
never 'disturb' anything if it is still functioning OK. I believe him
b'coz it happened once to my 'late' MINI.
