Hello to all Proton owners,
I have to report this problem to you all, it's been happening ever since I got my brand new ride. I've owed my ride for about 6 months now. This problem was there since day 1. Out of every 10 times starting the car, once or twice there will be this problem. Normal starting sound is chic, chic, vroom, but my problem will sound chic, chic, chic, chic, brooooomm, brooomm, dead...... it would start. Second try after taking out the key and re-insert key and turn, is chic, chic, chic (i'll press hard on the pertol and vroom.. it will start.
I compliant about this problem at my 1st service (1000km), they check with computer and found nothing amist, so they took out the starter socket and re-attached. And sent me on my way. still the problem is there.
I complaint again @ 5000km service, samething, they attached the computer and found nothing amist, so this time they tuned my engine, and sent me on my way. However the problem is still there (have to say after the tuning, feel a lot more power and smoother ride.
I complaint again @ 10000km service, samething, they attached the computer and found nothing amist, so this time they said better "Flash" the ECU back to original factory settings, and send me on my way. However the problem is still there, (have to say after 'flashing" the ECU, lost power but much better FC figures)
I complaint again @ 15000km service, samething, they attached the computer and found nothing amist, so this time they recommend to disconnect ECU socket and reattach securely. And sent me on my way. Thank god this time it fixed the damn starting problem, it was a lousy loose connection at the ECU box, freaking loose socket and cables cost me sooo much anger and wasted sooo much of my time.
How can proton allow such thing to happen, what happens if this loose connection was to cause an accident or worst death? Who knows, maybe it already has? As consumer, after shelling RM 50K plus on a brand new vehicle, we would expect that it will be in excellent running condition, what's the point of buying brand new, if there's problems like this.
I brought this persona brand new, just because my previous rides, Fiat & Citroen also had these sort of problems. Where the supposely experts cannot diagnose the problem, and asked me to change entire components.
So for those reading, if you have starting problem, rest assured it's the freaking ECU socket is loose.
TQ.

Aiyahhhhh, after over 20 days of perfect driving and starting, the starting problem is back....??? Why is this car like this.
After the heavy pour of rain, suddenly the problem came back.
I am tried of sending to the SC for trouble shooting, cause they diffenately don't know what's the problem.. Looks like have to schedule leave to send the car back in again. I have no confidence that they will find the problem.
All my previous cars, all brought 2nd hand, never give me problems like this brand new proton.
Anyway, just my 2 cents. Proton oh proton....

It been years since the posting, but I finally figured out what was the problem. My car started given me a warning light to check engine. I took it to the mechanic, and plugged it the computer to diagnose.
It showed error at O2-sensor, so they recommend to change. I agreed that they proceeded to remove. Once there to remove, they found that the original O2 sensor was not tighten properly, they said it's way to loose to work properly. Anyways, i just change to new o2 sensor (RM 140++).
Even since then the starting problem has also disappeared. Seems that a loose o2 sensor installation will causs this engine starting problem too. If you have the same problem, try and tighthen the o2 sensor, before it becomes faulty.
