The consensus between me and a few journalists is that in terms of driving dynamics the Mondeo is so much better than the competition it can sometimes be unfair to compare anything against it.

agreed! the combination of power, gearbox, and driving dynamics is perfect in the Mondeo. it's a driver's car and yet can comfortably cruise the highways over long distances. it does it all.

i think the only downside to the mondeo is its sheer size.

Why the size, Droll? I think the Mondeo's appeal also lies in that largesse. Seems more in tune with the sheer size of the likes of the Audis and Mercs and Beemers. The handling becomes more surprising when you consider the size no?

it is a small complaint, to be honest. in the smaller streets and roads of m'sia, it makes for tigher parking, maneuvering, etc. it appeals to people who like space of course - no arguments there.

camry - 4825 (L) x 1820 (W) x 1470 (H), 2775mm wheel base
mondeo - 4850 (L) x 1886 (W) x 1500 (H), 2850mm wheel base
F10 5 series - 4899 (L) x 1860 (W) x 1464 (H), 2968mm wheel base
A4 - 4703 (L), 1826 (W) x 1427 (H), 2808mm wheel base

Wow, that's some praise. I didn't consider the Mondeo in my search because of the resale value and the 90's 'Nokia' styling. Hopefully, the new 'Aston Martin' looking one will have a much better interior.

Also, the rear light cluster is a love-it-or-loathe-it design. It looks very aftermarket to me, when at that price you can get class and performance.

Agree - too ah beng for my liking, similar type of lights as M3. For a high priced executive saloon, one qould expect to see more class.

Just out of curiosity, what would you compare the driving dynamics of the Mondeo to?

Within the D-segment, I actually can't think of one that is better.

The Mondeo definitely betters the Passat in terms of driving dynamics, though the Passat can argue that it has the more comfortable setup.

Sorry to bug you about this but I'm just too curious. Regardless of segment, which car would you compare the driving dynamics of the Mondeo to?
