My Rondo brought it mid 2011......

Scary moment on November 2011, I fetch my parent to LCCT airport stop the car and engine, bring down their bags and say bye bye....

Jump in the car and start the car...... suddenly a loud sound like explosion "boom", you know rondo sound proof is quite good so I don't know exactly how loud but everyone was looking at my car, I still thought who's car tire exploded then I saw smoke coming from my car bonnet afraid of fire I open the bonnet to check. Guess what???? the battery (maintenance free battery come with the car one) explode the top cover of the batter open up.

The later no need to explain cause without battery can't do anything.... have to tow back from LCCT to KIA service center in sunway technology part.

I suspect the battery over charge the mechanic think so. He do a detail check on the alternator and all the electronic everything seem ok, so conclude is a faulty battery I think naza didn't give good quality battery for new car, Like my bestari battery also only lasted 6 month before kaput.

want to warranty have to wait somemore so I decide to change to new battery, so far have been 3 month keep my finger cross everything is fine.

Dam scary man, now everyday worry will it blow up again or not.

Hi, I really understand your feeling...
I took my Rondo in April 2011, and my mileage is around 17k when the battery went wrong.

My case is like this,
I used to wash my Rondo every 2 weeks, and I do inspection on engine side as a must.
One fine day, I noticed that my Rondo battery indicator turned to RED (Normally it shld be GREEN)
Then the next day, i went to Naza SC to file a complaint on this.
BUT, the officer told me that everything is fine (without checking) because i still can start the car.
Then I was very angry and start making noise...
until they get their technician to do checking by using instrument/tool...
They told me that the result is good, both battery and alternator...
But i'm not satisfy because the battery indicator show RED.

After quarrel and argue, they end up by filling a report. That was in Sept/August 2011.
The best portion is F X X K.....
I need to wait until end of Dec 2011, then only the battery arrive and the HQ release the warranty claim...
In between this, i have follow up by call more than 10X....
Keep on give me excuses.... Damn it.
Now they have change the new battery for my Rondo and claim that the new battery is from Korea, and some more branded...
###### la, Naza battery local made la...

Honestly, this has made me decided to change the SC for my Rondo.
If you are not from Mxlxkx, thanks to GOD.

The SC I'm going so far been ok. They can help me to claims but I have to leave my car there cause there is no battery to run it. So I decide to just pay myself.

Anyway currently the battery seem ok.

my bestari battery also only lasted for 6 month and when I request for warranty NAZA said need to tow my car back to SC to ensure is a battery issue.... hahah.... come on a mechanic on the road side also can verify is a battery issue without even towing the car back to his work shop.

Bryantee,

Mine rondo battery also blown up last year! Now using panasonic so far so good, have no confidence on locally made battery!
It seems I'm not the only one with this battery problem!

Hi,

Just want to let you guys know that I also experienced what Jeffrey encountered.

Back in 2011, just before my 1 year battery warranty were to expire, I noticed my alarm sound getting weaker and weaker. Sent in to SC and their test machine generated a report that my battery is in good condition!!! I was not convinced and went to my local tyre shop which confirmed it's already bad.

Returned to SC the next day and insist that they do a checkup throughly. Surprisingly this time round, the machince reported my battery is faulty. SC filed report and waited for a couple of days before the battery arrived.

I think this is rather stupid as if my battery need immediate replacement, I would have lost the usage of my car during this waiting period. Why can't they stock up the battery and also the warranty claim process need to be expedite.

Last but not least, the replacement battery also died after 9 months, just 2 weeks ago......

Most car companies would give lousy battery that won't last more than 1 year. Cheap wet battery not the dry type. I doubt they even check your battery, as long as there is tiny charge, they will say ok. Whatever new car we bought, close to 1 year must change ASAP to prevent unnecessary trouble.

for my diesel ride - yes, I change it once a year inmaterial it is still good useable or not.
For Petrol cars can easily last 2 yrs, so I change once in 2 yrs is very safe (provided you use the good reputated brand and not the cheap chaykai brand)

just my 1 ct
