I use to have S40. If you take care of your Volvo, it will last. But must go to Federal Auto.
Japanese car quality do not have same solidness like Volvo. A lot of S60 and 80 going so cheap.

If you are interested on used unit of S60/V50...then my advised is try to get those newer used units on year 05 onward S60 2.0t or T5 or year 08 v50 T5, and those units now with apprx rm70k onward for S60 and rm120K onward for V50 in the used car market.

To get a good unit of well maintenance used Volvo are actually very much depend on luck and patient..as most Volvo units are brought under company registed and the fisrt 3 years maintenance are done by authorised dealer under manufacturer warranty, therefore many buyers are straighly follow what the manufacturer recommendation of interval maintenance schedule period is (15K KM) and forgotted our local weather condition and as well traffic condition are much different from Europe..therefore many units will suffer the oil sludged & carbon deposite in next few years of usage..and make it the worse some owners can't afford to continual service their volvo in authorised dealer after the warranty expired and opt for service at those non -Volvo workshop and used OEM parts instead of original Volvo will further jeopardy the car condition.

So to find a good unit of used volvo, try log in those local/foreign Volvo forum to familiar with each models character & also commom problems, then try get contact from local Volvo forum for those experience Volvo workshop around you and pay a visit to them to ask question about your concerns ( dont worry, normally those workshop boss will happily answer your query as you might be their future customer soon ) and once you are roughtly know what to look after then start looking in local press media or wetsite for local selling and possible try bring in those units that you feel the condition are acceptable to the Volvo workshop to performance the inspection( so if found any defects you can nego with seller for price reduce or they pay for repair bill) before you decide to sign on the dots..

hope this will help to give some direction to go before you decided to joint as one of Volvo family.

S60 seems to be a perfect choice for a daily driver vehicle! The design is very much improved at the rear end compared to previous models. --- it's one of the world's safest of course smile.gif

This is The fact!!! But we ourself That kill the car!!! The car is good but the too long service is no good!!! Heard now it is 20 or 25k kms per service and if you walk int a Volvo showroom, the salesman who are trained to showed how cheap is Volvo maintenence and show you the printed catalog with the 20k, 40, 60k kms..... service and the charges and you see so cheap only!!!! so good for accountants and company cost saving. Talk to volvo car specialist like Volcar (Jerry Tan) or V-Pro (Kelvin) and you will know what I meant and if you have the times, to see an opened up engine - or gearbox by them - you will be shocked!!!

as most Volvo units are brought under company registed and the fisrt 3 years maintenance are done by authorised dealer under manufacturer warranty, therefore many buyers are straighly follow what the manufacturer recommendation of interval maintenance schedule period is (15K KM) and forgotted our local weather condition and as well traffic condition are much different from Europe..therefore many units will suffer the oil sludged & carbon deposite in next few years of usage..and make it the worse some owners can't afford to continual service their volvo in authorised dealer after the warranty expired and opt for service at those non -Volvo workshop and used OEM parts instead of original Volvo will further jeopardy the car condition.

So the engine and gear box - surely koyak if you buy a used 5 yrs car, if you buy new car service it at every 5-7k kms - you can use for a long time, and keep it for life, cos sell also so cheap. I have a 30 yrs old ++++ and still stronger than me!
Cheers!
