If only ppl start to ditch those ideas and buy Continental cars, am sure pricing of parts will reduce accordingly as well. I changed my Toyota Altis front set of brake pads for RM443. Made In Thailand some more. Cheap ? I was grumbling at UMW that time when SA told me the price.
I doubt it, there are still taxes. Unless you are talking about local manufactured or imitation parts.

Perception, bro. Does not mean in reality that is the case. In fact, even if the conti part is 30% more expensive but it can last more than double the lifespan of an equivalent Japanese part, how is that expensive? Alas, many people only see the dollar and cents but don't consider the durability. People don't know how to differentiate between price and cost of a product

The implication of lack of financial ability and (worse still) insinuation of poor decision making and/or lack of importance placed on family members falls squarely on the local team. A quick check on the main Malaysia VW site of the Cross Touran (sorry, we are discussing about interpretation of marketing messages on a model that's not related to the topic at hand) shows the tag line "Unconventional Performance" which sounds a whole lot better than this message:
I wonder how does the legal team of VAG Malaysia work in allowing a completely different message be projected at their dealerships.
Seriously though I do not see anything wrong with the advert. What's so bad about insinuating that you are making a poor decision in buying other car makes and your family deserves better with a tauran which is the best your money can buy?

Its an advert for VW after all and I think its quite successful because it gets you all talking about it.

Well, at least the advert is better that the one we saw about a small car; being trashed around by a monster... yet not a scratch! Touted to be stronger and more rigid than a beemer too!

Ya i still remember that one..... My wife bought it and regretted since day 1. Luckily managed to sell it after a year.

How many VW sales person uses this tag line in their sales pitch to the customer, I wonder. And no, I do not agree that the CT is the best compact MPV money can buy. Anyway, this is way OOT already

Yeah, and I find the advertisement used by VW saying "When families deserve the best your money can buy" distasteful by implying that you ain't got enough money to buy this for your family or you're not putting your family as a priority in purchasing other MPVs other than this
Advertising is as advertising does.
There is nothing distasteful about what was said. Otherwise those who do not buy a BMW are a bunch of joy-less folks.
