FORD PLANS STRONG COMEBACK WITH ALL-NEW FORD FOCUS

Without revealing the specifics, any chance for the 1.8L sedan variant to
be priced at sub RM115K? The specs list, I must admit, sounds imppressive.
Another question, why only bring in the 1.8L and not the presumably
cheaper 1.6L variant? By only selling the larger engine variant, this will
surely limit the customers' choices. I'm sure there's a market for both
engine variants in the case of the sedan. Anyway, happy to hear FORD is
coming back. The Focus is a genuinely good car.

SJGould,
The 1.6 variant is not offered as malaysia has to follow ASEAN spec , to
lower production costs, lower complexity in the plant etc etc, no ASEAN
country will be offering the 1.6(singapore doesnt count as its not part
of Ford ASEAN)
lets just say that your price is close...barring no major change in the
political climate..price is around what you mentioned...but the AP issue
is worrisome

Thanks for the response and points noted. I'm assuming a stronger Ringgit
will also have a role to play in determining the final selling price? If
the final price is at RM115K or less, I'd be very tempted to get one.

If from Germany, then worth every sen if at RM130k. Should be around that
I think, considering the VW Golf 1.6FSI is only around RM160k and this is
a VW we are talking about.

If 1.8 and costing about RM115K, may consider new Civic.

Can't afford A4, so MONDEO is the best alternative so far.

others):
Bring the 1.6 Ti-VCT manual. As Focus is a niche car for keen drivers
(that's what I thought anyway), it make sense that this transmission is
included in the Malaysian model line up. Mind you, not all such drivers
can afford 100k+ sedan. This should lower the purchase (I sure hope so)
and the owning/running costs. So what say you Ford Con?
Another thing, for all of you Ford fans, what is the width of the new
Focus? Is it 1840mm or 1695mm? Read the review in Autocar. Its May issue
said the former whilst the Jun and July mentioned the later. Being
someone with built quite fairly larger than average M'sian, this is an
important issue to me.

and the sales advisors do not even seem to be excited about the Focus. I
know for a fact that a leaflet is available at showrooms with basic specs
and colours which will be offered but only the Jalan Ipoh salesperson
mentioned it to me. She promised to fax it over to me but after 2 weeks I
am still waiting.
I managed to pick up a copy from Ford PJ but even so, had to specifically
ask the salesperson for it rather than have it offered to me.
Very sad that Ford's service is this poor. I dread to think what their
service standards are like.

things.
Look at the amount of competition now. Car buyers never have it do good
for a long time. And please don`t tell me that the recent diesel price
increase did not dampen sales of their pick-up trucks, just when things
are looking up.
Some may want to call it bad timing, but imo they just missed the bus.
The next one will take awhile to come around.
