FORD PLANS STRONG COMEBACK WITH ALL NEW FORD FOCUS
SHAH ALAM, July 28, 2005 -- Ford Malaysia will stage a strong comeback
into the passenger car segment with the introduction of the all new Ford
Focus before the end of this year. This latest generation of the Ford
Focus has notched up sales of more than 115,000 units in Europe and
during the world launch of the Asia-Pacific designed 4-door model in
Taiwan it sold 3,500 units in just the first month, which was an all-time
record, enabling Ford to capture sales segment leadership.
Ford Malaysia will be bringing in two models of the all new Ford Focus
both specified and equipped specifically for this market according to
Mike Pease, Managing Director of Ford Malaysia.
“We are confident that the all new Ford Focus will quickly establish
itself as the choice of Malaysians just as it has done in other parts of
world. The all new Focus offers an exhilarating combination of superior
ride and handling, European styling and precision German engineering that
will set the standard for driving dynamics in its class,” he said.
The Focus exterior styling sets new standards for refined sophistication,
with clean European lines that stretch across its body surface. It
commands an aggressive stance that is accentuated by the bold wheel
arches.
The superior Focus driving experience is a result of achieving dynamic
harmony, with responsive steering combined with a supple ride, precise
handling and roadholding to let the driver "Rule The Bends". The Focus
incorporates the advanced Control Blade Independent Rear Suspension
system adopted from the Focus RS, which has been proven in the most
challenging World Rally Championship (WRC) circuits around the world.
Its reputation as one of the most successful cars in Ford’s history is
globally recognized. Nearly 5 million Focus cars have been sold in North
America and Europe since the Focus was first introduced in 1998. With
more than 75 awards to its credit including, Car of the Year in Europe
and North America, the first generation Focus was a modern car icon.
In Europe, the all new Ford Focus has drawn rave reviews, According to
Autocar (UK): “The new Focus is a demonstrably better car than its
predecessor in a vast array of areas. Refinement, packaging, ride,
equipment, safety, security – the list is long and almost exactly what we
expected. Most important, given the immense capability of the original,
its remains a great drive.” (September 14, 2004)
What Car? (UK) wrote that the all new Ford Focus, “has improved the
handling…to make it a real joy for keen drivers. Body control is superb,
the steering response ultra-quick, and the level of grip gives confidence
to unravel knotted back roads like no other car in this class.” (November
10, 2004)
The new Focus will be launched simultaneously at Ford dealerships
throughout the country before the end of this year. Customers are allowed
to place advance bookings for the vehicle at any authorised Ford
dealership.

focus is the same price range as the lynx, then it will outsell the lynx
easily! Took them so long to bring it in ... should also bring in the
Mondeo but at camry/accord price.

is abit father look.
But the hp is 146ps which should translate to abt 150hp, is great!
Furthermore, with Electrical Power Steering, the whp should be better.
And Tiptronic, this is gonna be fun to drive.
And if I'm hearing correctly, Ford is gonna push more for the car market
segment, which will translate to better second hand value.
And if the price is abt Civic 2.0, then there is no comparision oredy.

1.8 will be launched by mid October, with 2.0 later in the year.
Just got back from training in bkk for the new focus, its amazing, the spec
list is so long, dunno where to begin.
Dual airbags, digital climate control, full leather, electric drivers seat,
all new aluminium Duratec engine, shiftronic, electro hydraulic power
steering, auto wing mirror fold, ipod aux in, in dash 6-CD changer, etc
etc etc...and the best thing is the price...
and who said the 2.0 look like father car?it looks amazing...some comments
were "better then the 1-series" the 2.0 comes with smoked projector
headlights so it looks really good...
this will be the RETURN of FORD to MALAYSIA....
