Hi there all ICE sifus,

I got from a friend a rockford T600-2 amplifier. So, i would like to redo my audio car audio system. Can anybody suggest the best/recommended setup for my system. The speaker type, brand, wattage and others things that i need. I'm really new in this audio stuff.

Thanks in advance...
Cheers...

this is a powerful amp, 200W x 2 stereo, or 600W in mono. more suited to be used for subwoofer. but since its a 2ch amp, it can also be used to power up your front stereo speakers, but a bit overkill la, be careful with the gain control of the amp, u could fry the speakers, just keep it at its lowest.

assuming u are starting from zero, id suggest u buy a component speaker set for your fronts first. good sets start around RM750. if u can find something that can handle 200W or close, it would be better. (remember its 200W rms power, not pmpo or peak power)

Hi zennn,

Thanks for the reply. Really appreciate it. About your comment. The 600x1 mono i understand. It is for monoblock (woofer), right? But i dont understand what you mean by 200x2 stereo. Isnt it 2 channel comes out 300rms per channel?

Was thinking maybe to get 1 component for front (1 channel) and 2x2 way speaker (mid n bass) at the back. Is it advisable...??

Cheers...

200 Watts x 2 @ 4-Ohm
300 Watts x 2 @ 2-Ohm
600 Watts x 1 @ 4-Ohm Bridged

the mono is not simply stereo combined. if its 200W per channel , u think its 400W mono. or 600w mono u would think its 300w stereo. its not like that...
if this was an efficient amp, actually real 200w stereo would give 800w mono. since its giving 600w mono, i feel the real power is only 150w per channel stereo.

200 Watts x 2 @ 4-Ohm
300 Watts x 2 @ 2-Ohm
600 Watts x 1 @ 4-Ohm Bridged

ohm is resistance, when u lower the resistance, u increase the power. in good amps, if u reduce 4ohm to 2ohm, the power will double, this one only increase to 300W instead of 400W, thats why i think the real power is only 150W per channel.

u see from above how u get the 600W bridged mono from the 200W stereo, its the 2ohm rating that u add together, not the 4ohm stereo rating., or else it would be 400W @ 8ohm bridged mono

how to get 2 ohm or 4ohm, its how u wire up your voicecoils. normal speakers are 4ohm in car audio. if u have 2 voicecoils that are 4ohm, connect it to the amp in parallel u get 2ohm, in series u get 8ohm.

Hi zennn,

Thanks for the answer. Really help. A lot...

Wow! You really know your stuff, huh. A true master. Master shifu... Hehehe..

Now am eyeing the kicker qs65.2 components (financial not afford rf components already, sigh...) but im confused because state there 100rms. Is it for the whole set, one side (speaker+tweeter) or for one speaker only...??

100w rms one side (speaker + tweeter), dont worry coz your amp is also rated per channel, in this case 200W, (i think its 150w)

forgot to answer your other question:
Was thinking maybe to get 1 component for front (1 channel) and 2x2 way speaker (mid n bass) at the back. Is it advisable...??

the amp can only power one pair of speakers, so the 2ch will run 2 speakers, left and right only. so just use it for the front components.

next time when u buy a sub, u can use this amp for it, but buy a better quality 2ch amp for your front components.

Currently i have a normal pair blaupunkt powered by only the Hu. I think to leave them be and install a component for the front. Taking ur advice by installing both two channels for the component.

Now my problem is what are the brands available for components with power rating 200w rms? My budget is around rm1k (if possible plus installation)....

Hi all,

Just to update. Paid deposit for my components already. Am going for morel tempo 6. Cant wait to install already. Been hearing (reading actually) many good reviews for this set. What do you guys think? Is it a good buy??

For the installation. Want to try maintain the original back speaker. If 'kacau' the sound, just want to unplug those things...

One more thing. Do i need any equalizer@pre amp whatsoever?? Got a few shops recommend to have. Some don't. Really dunno lah....
