I have to admit, other than in Norway, Finland and Sweden, the toll collection system from Melbourne CBD to Melbourne Airport, IMHO, has got to be one of the most efficient and convenient way to collecting/paying toll in the world

Actually it is totally different from SMARTAG as there is no need for any special device like SMARTAG (M'sia) or ERP (S'pore)...Just drive through an overhead structure similar to that of S'pore's ERP Overhead Detection Zone Structure at whatever speed you wish and the cameras overhead will register your vehicle number plate. You have 48 hours to pay by calling a number. Payment methods can be by credit cards, prepaid toll cards (similar to our Touch & Go) or EFT. Of course, you can pay in advance too...just call the same call centre and register your vehicle number plate for the tolled highway you wish to enter and pay using the same medium as above. You have 48 hours to enter and exit the tolled highway and if you don't enter, the paid amount shall be refunded by crediting your medium of payment above
In EU, you can just zoom through such toll detection structures at over 100mph (YES, THAT'S 100 M-P-H!!!) and your toll details are accounted for
I thought that was what PLUS was planning when they were doing the testing at the Batu 3 Toll Plaza 2 years ago followed by the announcement by former Works Minister about using the same method in our country's toll plazas. But apparently that doesn't seem so

Plus had to cancelled the drive through system toll as their "just" realise their cant just drive though toll because the traffic jam happen right after the toll....
