Yeah. I am looking for FF MK2 1.8 only and not the 2.0. I could be
05/07, 06/08 or better still 07/08 :P.

But at the end I may have to drop my interest :(. Have been seeing a few
units (I think total 4 of them in the last 2 months). All the computer
reading of average fuel consumption is hovering between 12.3 to 13.7
litres per 100 kilometres. So my Home Minister has given me a big “No
Go” unless I want to defy her “order”.

Can someone tell me the accuracy of the computer reading?

I am now starting to consider another car with the same genetic (shared
chasis), Mazda 3 1.6. The price 06 made is about the same as FF MK2 1.8
06 made, but it is just a bare bone unit, minus all the goodies and
gadgets that fitted inside the FF MK2.

Well if based on actual user account in FOMEC is about 1liter=10km-12km .
so still reasonable for a 2.0/1.8 car.

The meter calculation sometime is based on a trip not the whole full
tank. best is manually calculate.

i saw in newspaper mazda 1.6 06 new selling at 88kneg. maybe u can
consider that.

Seen that car already :).

It is a non-moving stock from other states as it colour is the least
popular colour from Mazda 3. OTR is RM91K which is only RM10K less from
the brand new 08 stock. FYI, Bermaz is offering new one at RM101K OTR.
So I am giving that a pass.

But unfortunately Bermaz do not have stock now as there is a fleet buy
from one MNC. So I am using this time to scout around for a good used unit
or wait for the new batch to come in.

Yeah, thats why I called it a barebone unit Frown .

In fact the price is about the same as the FF MK2 1.8 07 stock if I am
getting a new unit from Ford Malaysia, as OTR is about RM107K. Moreover
Mazda 3 fuel consumption is not that great either, but I really do not
want to upset my Home Minister Tongue.

To be honest, my heart is still with FF MK2 Wink.

dun expect low consumption from this 1.6. It consumes even higher than
the FF2.0 occationally. You may ask where I got the info from. I have
both fyi.

go get the 88k mazda3 if u dun intend to sell within 3-4 yrs. After 5
yrs, all cars depreciated to almost the same level

Cynus, I knew you have both as I am a regular at motortrader, fomec and
here.

Actually depreciation value and fuel consumption is not bothering me much
as I am a car enthusiast. If the aboves are my main concerns that I will
not be looking out for FF or Mazda 3.

I know the Mazda 3 1.6 fuel consumption is on par with FF MK2 1.8. Just
that I using using this as a technique to get a buy in from my Home
Minister, as this is 1.6 compared to 1.8 and she has agreed to it.
Shhh...I am not supposed to saying this out Tongue.

I have booked one used one yesterday (the one that advertised on
Autoworld few days ago, if you find it easily if you do a search on it).
I got it at RM80K and I find it is a fair deal. This is from Naza, the
spec is slightly difference from Bermaz and the crytal pearl white makes
the car really outstanding Smile.

So cygnus, any tips about this Mazda 3 baby? [Ops, asking at the wrong
forum, sorry!]

Everything is good except high FC and lack of power. Handling, NVH are
superb. As usual, first thing first, change engine oil to 0W30 (Redline,
Mobil1 etc), Denso iridium and ori air filter to ensure efficient burning.

You may want to join Mazda Club SG. I got myself a pair of bumpers (same
color as mine, ori paint & 3 moths old only) there. Guess how much? S$100.

Congrats on your buy. Great deal indeed.

I am well aware of the power line of this 1.6 babe. Infact, it keeps
downshifting everytime I floor the pedal during the test drive, probably
it is because I am very very heavy on my right foot Tongue. But can't help
it though as this is my normal driving habit.

Points well taken and I am taking of paying a visit to JDM Singapore one
of the days as I goes down to Singapore quite frequents.

Sorry fellow Ford's forumer for stealing this space.
