shiftronic there is a lag, cos the selespeed is actually a clutchless
manual, so is the BM's if Im not mistaken, the Ford unit is still a
automatic transmission.
147 RM180k
BMW >RM230
so cant really compare ler...focus is only 120k

gearbox, virtually all BMWs sold in Malaysia are equipped with "true"
automatic transmissions ie. automatic gearboxes with torque converter.
They are not clutchless manuals. The SMG on the other hand is a
clutchless manual, like the Alfa Selespeed system and Citroen's
Sensodrive.

difference.
I have driven many semi-auto cars, and all of them, including the
Steptronics have a noticeable lag.
I do concede that, at RM120k, the lag is acceptable; but I hope Ford does
not just sit on it.

not have listened to the salesman. anyway, the car looks good, very
Europeanish, which is what I'm after.
Yes the tiptronic lags quite a bit, i even upshifted to first thinking it
did not engage. and the sales guy just sat there instead of telling me
about the lag. Goes to show they don't seem to know jack.
Anyway, I like all the Europeanish features, like child proof windows, rear
blowers, split aircond, etc. Some minor gripes include the lack of knee
room in front, handbrake lever too far from driver, very small gear
position indicator.
Handles sweetly and can run rings around my old civic. NVH good and
interior looks bright and cheery. But I heard the new civic has got a gem
of an engine, despite being equipped with beam-type rear suspension and
lack of wishbones in front. The dash also looks a bit too futuristic, like
those ultraman cartoons.
I guess I am 80% sure of getting the 1.8 Focus, even more so if the price
is around the 110 region. Fingers crossed then.

million units in 7 years. Does that means this is a 7 years old model
with minor face-lift?
I failed to understand how can a 7 years old FORD FOCUS technology
compete with those newer japanese sedan selling locally, unless of course
FORD technology is 7 yrs ahead of Jap car.
