a question for y'all in the know.
I'm looking for an everyday car - for work and have shortlisted to either
a WRX or a GTA7.5A. I personally prefer the misubishi because it's auto.
My friends told me to check on this forum.
Anyone have any of these cars and what's the maintenance like ?

how much will you travel with this car? This cars has very poor fuel
consumption. Full tank 48 litres will bring you 200km only. If you push
quite often, maybe 150km only.
Good as a weekend car or fun car. Not so 'economical' as everyday car.

Not far-lah. My daily commute is from Jalan Ampang to Dataran Merdeka -
and back.
Cannot afford to have a weekend or fun car so I thought why not combine
everyday and fun - lor.
Can't push it too often because I have baby in the back - otherwise'll
have smell of baby barf in the cabin all the time.

It that case, not so far.
My comments are directed to Impreza and EVO. Both have poor fuel
consumption. It hurts when you are stuck in a traffic jam with these cars
and you can actually see the fuel gauge needle drops.
Baby in the back? Then I would like to comment further that these cars
have very hard ride quality. So going through uneven roads, pot holes,
bumps will seriously make the passengers unbearable.
I suggest you look for 1 and go for a test drive.
It's a seriously fun car, if you don't mind the poor fuel consumption and
harsh ride.

Thanks ngsh,
I did have a test drive on both - but forgot about the hard ride on the
child (still getting used to fatherhood). Good point.
Must revisit test drive with the child in the back for the puke test.
Grateful if you have any other suggestions for suitable cars now that you
have a fair idea of what my expectations are.
I'm just trying to avoid the 3 series dad sterotype.

sadly I cannot think of any performance car without harsh ride quality.
They are tuned that way to extract the performance out of the car. (maybe
M5 would be the one but I have sat in one b4)
I know 2 persons who own Airtrek Turbo, 1 my uncle, another a friend. My
uncle, after using it for a few months, could not 'tahan' the fuel
consumption and sold the car.
My friend, still using it now but complains of harsh ride quality. Even
asked me how to change the suspension/shocks to softer ones.
The best way I can think of is: get your wife a decent 4 door car to
ferry your child anywhere (tescos, mid valley, great eastern mall etc),
and drive a impreza or EVO when you are alone (going to office, meet up
with friends etc).

i would go for evo for performance but if you add the daily usage and
passengers then i think the WRX would be better. a bit quiter.

Okay, a couple of points..... are you talking about a WRX or an STi since
this will effect the ride comfort. Are you talking about a brand spanking
new WRX / STi or an older one.
The STi's have a harsher ride than WRX's, and especially up to Version 6.
Version 7, from a personal point of view is pig ugly but the new ones now
are better.
If you are "stuck" in traffic the fuel consupmtion is no worse than any
other 2.0L engine (well not much). If you start winding up the turbo then
for sure you'll suck more juice but where there is a downside, there is
also an upside...... that lovely sound.
For an everyday car my opinion is the standard WRX would be better than
the EVO or STi since the ride on both is set for the sports ride.
